We were dumbstruck when we first saw this band play live. 'Haunting' is too weak a word to describe Champion Kickboxer's darkly beautiful chamber pop. In their home manor of Sheffield, the band grew a faithful army of beatnik followers through a series of open performances at their practice space. Like all good things, their happenings had to stop when the local constabulary took notice. In 'Thinking', we see an unusual turn for the Super Sevens series as the tempo and volume are dropped, however in a lot of ways, this minimalist piece of pop fits perfectly into a scheme where the obtuse is celebrated.
